Operators and traders placing covered commodities — including cattle, soy, wood, cocoa, coffee, oil palm and rubber, and products made from them — on the EU market, or exporting them from it, must file a DDS in the EU information system before the goods enter or leave the EU.
The commodity must come from land that has not been deforested or degraded after the cut-off date of 31 December 2020, and it must be produced legally. Proof requires geo-location of every plot of production.
